Mission and objectives

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, headquartered in Bonn Germany, contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV work with partners to integrate qualified, highly motivated and well supported UN Volunteers into development programming and promote the value and global recognition of volunteerism. UNV is administered by the United Nations Development Programme (https://www.undp.org/).
The UNV Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, one of six Regional Offices in different locations around the world, forges opportunities for the mobilization of UN Volunteers in support of the UN system’s activities on peace and development, as well as to support volunteerism as a form of civic engagement through increased capabilities and regional partnerships with UN and non-UN entities.
At the country level, UNV Field Units interact with UN entities to integrate volunteerism into their development agenda and for deployment of National UN Volunteers.

Context

UNV is seeking Online Volunteers to assist in crafting web stories highlighting the experiences of UN Volunteers and their significant contributions during their assignments. Online Volunteers will have access to background information and visuals, including photos, for each volunteer story. UNV will provide ongoing support, guidance, and advice throughout the assignment to ensure the success of the storytelling endeavor.

Task description

The key tasks are:
• Support in creating and curating interesting content (short article) on UN Volunteers for the UNV website, using storytelling techniques and multimedia elements.
• Support in social media content creation on UN Volunteers for various social media channels such as LinkedIn, website and Facebook including social media posts/posters.
The Online Volunteers are expected to produce 3 web stories and content for social media during their engagement. The web stories should follow the UNV web writing guidelines and using multimedia elements such as photos or infographics. The Online Volunteer will receive feedback and guidance from UNV colleagues on the content and quality of their outputs.
