About the opportunity Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) are seeking a qualified full-time ophthalmologist with sub-specialty training in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina to practice in a challenging and rewarding academic medical environment. The successful candidate will be granted a Continuing Appointment with the Faculty of Medicine, Dalhousie University. The candidate will join the hospital-based group of sub-specialized ophthalmologists located at the QEII Hospital. The candidate will be expected to participate in teaching, research, and other academic or administrative duties as member of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. Candidates for this position must hold an MD degree; have completed a residency in ophthalmology; have a minimum of 24 months of post-residency fellowship training in a qualified vitreoretinal program, including active exposure and participation in clinical and/or basic research, and have prior research experience and a genuine interest in basic and clinical research in the area of retina. Experience in hereditary retinal dystrophies would be an asset. Candidates for this position will possess excellent clinical and surgical skills and be able to establish an independent research program. Candidates must be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for a license in the province of Nova Scotia and for attending privileges at NSH.
