• Reporting to the Team Lead and based on priorities set by the Incident Manager and the WHO Head of Country Office and working closely with counterparts at the Ministry of Health (MoH), respective regional office and HQ , the incumbent will work in close collaboration with relevant technical officers at the national level and subnational levels.
• Collect, store, analyze and present geographical and spatial information
• Undertake desk-based data capture (digitizing) to convert data to maps, GIS datasets to, for example, record the location of outbreaks, hotspots pinpoint and other spatial analytics.
• Supporting and participating in the designing and development of the geospatial database for surveillance and emergency response planning.
• Create and maintain the structures necessary for GIS data storage
• Manipulate, analyze, and present geographical information by creating programs to convert GIS information from one format to another
• Use tools to join together different GIS datasets and create new information or investigate patterns, e.g. estimating the number of people potentially affected by cholera, cyclone, using population growth figures and planning information to estimate increasing/decreasing trends.
• Overseeing the planning and coordination of GIS activities to meet the outlined goals
• Supporting data flow, management, and activities that are aimed at supporting EPR
• Maintaining up-to-date and accurate geospatial documentation for reference purposes
• Giving support in the development of a work plan for different projects and work on projects, scoping out the nature and purpose of the information required by partners
• Promote the effective coordination for rapid assessment, surveillance and response activities for epidemic-prone diseases in consultation with Country Office, Regional Office and HQ as well as MoH and other international health partners including UN agencies and NGOs.
• Prompt deployment to suspected disease outbreaks and or acute events of public health concern. Co-develop the guidelines, tools and indicators for effective disease surveillance in the response. 
• Perform any other incident-specific related duties as required by the functional supervisor.

• Essential: University degree in Data science (ICT), epidemiology or statistics, or public health from an accredited/recognized institute.
• Desirable: Advanced university degree in public health, post-graduate certification in public health, tropical medicine, database management or health-related training in communicable diseases.

• Essential: At least two (2) years’ related experience at the national or international level in epidemiology and the implementation of public health surveillance, outbreak investigation or response in humanitarian settings.
• Desirable: Prior working experience at field level with NSO, MoH, WHO, other UN agencies,
• health cluster partners, NGOs or recognized humanitarian organizations with expertise
• in disaster and outbreak response.

• Essential: Excellent knowledge of English
• Desirable: Knowledge of the local language(s)

• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Working knowledge of online data collection applications, statistical analysis packages (Stata, SPSS, etc)
