  • The Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) at Matlab, icddr,b maintains one of the most comprehensive longest-running, longitudinal population data resources in the developing world. The HDSS monitors population exposure over time to derive health and demographic rates & ratios and assesses the impact of health and social interventions. Matlab HDSS is looking for a suitable (Female) candidate for the post advertised.
  • The Surveillance Worker will directly report to the Field Research Supervisor and will be responsible for collecting HDSS data through Tab from Matlab HDSS area to conduct high-quality research within the guidelines of the research protocols and organizational values. She will be involved in –
  • Visit the households and collect Health and Demographic information, Socio-Economic and other study-related data through Tab;
  • Participate in fortnightly meetings at Sub-Centre to exchange their problems identified and solve the problems by the supervisor;
  • Update all HDSS events in the Census Volume at Matlab Office
  • Take consent from the respondents as and when required as per study requirements in order to ensure qualitative data collection.
  • Conduct pregnancy tests for the suspected pregnant women at the community level and maintain records of tested results
  • Distribute ORS and Zinc Tablet to the community people and maintain record books accordingly;
  • Counsel community people on primary health education including Family Planning Method;
  • Collect data in other research studies as and when required;
  • Provide logistics support if required to other studies in order to improve collaboration within the studies.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • HSC or equivalent;
  • 1 year of experience in field research work with Knowledge of primary health care, pregnancy tests and family planning methods and willingness to visit households for HDSS data collection using Tab;
