Landmarc Support Services currently have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Sustainability
Advisor on a fixed term contract basis, covering maternity leave. Whilst we are looking for the
successful applicant to be based near to our offices at Westdown Camp in Wiltshire the role
will require travel across the UK with the opportunity to work from home in periods of down
time.
The primary responsibility is to support the implementation of the company Sustainability
Strategy and provide sustainability advice across a portfolio of 3 regions of the UK. You will
be taking a leading role in the delivery of our Net Zero 2035 ambition and of our ISO 50001
Energy Management System (EnMS) and supporting ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
Main Responsibilities
Support the Sustainability Manager in ensuring the development and implementation of the company Sustainability Strategy.
Develop policies, procedures and guidelines for continual improvement in all areas of environmental performance and sustainable development.
Undertake management system audits supporting internal audit programme and all necessary systems, policies and procedures ensuring continual improvement is delivered. Provide feedback on the effectiveness of business processes and recommend improvements.
Ensure delivery and development of processes and guidance for the contract requirements.
Taking a leading role in the development and maintaining our ISO 50001 Energy Management System. Take a supporting role in the development and maintenance of our ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Advise and provide guidance to the Training Estate Support Contract (TESC) contract to ensure EMS processes are performed in accordance with company policy and statutory requirements.
Support the delivery and implementation of the contract business plan and ensure the contract attains its objectives as cost effectively and efficiently as possible.
Develop, communicate, maintain and review Joint Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Service Delivery (SD) Training and Landmarc sustainability policies, ensuring the engagement of stakeholders throughout the Estate.
Operate and maintain a Utilities Management Bureau (UMB) that reports to the DIO utilities team to support MOD objectives to reduce energy and water consumption and minimise associated carbon emissions.
Deliver training on your areas of expertise one to one, small group in-person and virtually. Supporting the development of training courses in your specialist area of knowledge.
Researching and writing communications for internal and external use inc Alerts, Planned and Reactive News Articles, Scripts on a variety of platforms inc, newsletters, websites,Apps eLearning packages – (for editorial approval)
Provide effective management of potential risks and liabilities relating to waste issues including Hazardous Waste, Licensing, Duty of Care and Appropriate Disposal.
To assist in the further development and implementation of effective data collection and reporting systems, particularly with regards to key performance indicators and support the preparation of routine operational reports for submission to the Landmarc contract management team and relevant stakeholders.
Represent DIO SD Training and Landmarc’s interests on sustainability issues at a range of forums, including within Defence Estate working groups, and contribute to the delivery of DIO SD Training’s contribution to the Greening Government Commitment targets.
Provide regular briefings and technical support relating to legislative drivers surrounding sustainability, environmental, energy and waste issues including UK and EU environmental policies to both Head Office and Regional Operations Managers.
The Ideal Candidate
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related discipline
Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. IEMA/CIWM)
Demonstrable background in sustainability and environmental management
Demonstrable background in energy management
Working knowledge of a wide range of energy and environmental legislation and best practice
Knowledge of a wide range of sustainability issues and how they relate to business, waste, transport, biodiversity, sustainable procurement, sustainable construction and social value
Working knowledge of certified Environmental Management Systems, for example ISO 14001
Working knowledge of certified Energy Management Systems, for example ISO 50001
Experience of conducting management system audits
Experience of creating and developing policies and procedures
Experience of providing advice relating to sustainability issues
