Team.
Do you have a passion for environmental conservation and sustainable practices? Are you ready
to lead the charge in implementing green initiatives? If you’re committed to making a tangible
impact and promoting sustainability within an organisation, we’re excited to meet you.
What’s the job
The Sustainability Officer at NTSU will be instrumental in assessing and enhancing the
environmental impact of the organisation and its activities. This involves identifying and
deploying tools for measuring environmental performance, managing engagement with environmental

among colleagues and students. The role demands the development and execution of the NTSU
Sustainability Strategy in alignment with the overarching organisational strategy, ensuring it
reflects sector best practices, legislative compliance, and campus-wide initiatives.
A critical aspect of the job includes fostering a culture of sustainability within the NTSU
community. This includes engaging students in the co-creation and execution of sustainability
strategies, leading targeted projects to address environmental challenges, and enhancing
communication about the Union’s environmental efforts to ensure they are engaging and
accessible. Building effective relationships within NTSU and NTU is key to enabling
collaborative approaches to sustainability challenges, as well as working with stakeholders to
implement environmental report recommendations across campuses.
Additionally, the role extends to supporting the Union’s broader engagement with sustainability
through content creation, reporting on progress towards sustainability goals, participating in
professional development, and fostering an environment of constructive feedback. The
Sustainability Officer will also be expected to support student officers, committee members,
and union staff in sustainability initiatives, manage student staff or interns, and contribute
innovative practices to NTSU’s service planning and delivery. This comprehensive role not only
focuses on immediate sustainability goals but also on cultivating a long-term culture of
environmental responsibility within the NTSU community.
