Suzhou Institute of Systems Medicine Seeking High-level Talents

Institute of Systems Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences /Suzhou Institute of Systems Medicine (ISM) is located in Suzhou Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone, adjacent to the BioBay. It is a national medical research institution jointly established by Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (CAMS&PUMC), Jiangsu Province, Suzhou City and Suzhou Industrial Park.

ISM focuses on the major scientific problems in the field of systems medicine, focusing on the occurrence and development mechanism of major diseases and the prevention and treatment of key bottlenecks, focusing on the construction of two National Key Laboratory “Immunity and Inflammation” and “Common Mechanism Research for Major Diseases”, also exploring new organizational models, innovative paradigms and management mechanisms, furthermore focusing on developing cutting-edge technologies such as cell therapy, gene editing, big data science and artificial intelligence, and life omics, striving to build a world-class scientific research institution with Chinese characteristics and Suzhou advantages, utilizing complementary foundation and transformation, leading operation mechanism, innovative system and talent team.

In April 2021, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College (CAMS&PUMC) signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with City of Suzhou and Suzhou Industrial Park（SIP） to jointly build a “Suzhou base for the core base of the national medical science and technology innovation system”. As a supporting unit ISM is planned to complete the construction of 80,000 square meters of new sites in 2026, gathering a group of high-level talents with innovative and strategic thinking to create an innovation and entrepreneurship highland for systems medicine.ISM’s talent work fully connects to the Tenure Track System, and we sincerely welcome talents all over the world to join us for challenges, and to create great achievements.

ISM is actively recruiting candidates in the following fields:

Five disciplines in basic science: immunology, infection, metabolism, development, and genetics;

Five types of diseases: cancer, infectious diseases, autoimmune diseases, neurological diseases, and rare diseases;

Five major technologies: life omics, synthetic and chemical biology, artificial intelligence and computational biology, stem cells and organoids, and animal models for human diseases;

Five types of translational research: novel therapies, drugs, vaccines, diagnostic reagents, and biomaterials.

Full Professor (tenured)

Qualifications:

1. An outstanding and peer-recognized track record of teaching, scientific research, and social services.

2. Experiences serving as a tenured associate professor or above in a world-class university or equivalent research institution, or other top talent of equivalent level in a renowned domestic university or research institution.

Mainly Supports:

1. Annual package: more than RMB 1.1 million.

2. Start-up funding: more than RMB 10 million.

3. Housing allowance: RMB 3 million.

4. Lab and office space: about 400 m².

 

Associate Professor (tenured or tenure-track)

Qualifications:

1. A leading expert in the chosen field of scientific research with the potential to become an academic or technological thought leader.

2. Serving as an assistant professor or above in a world-class university or equivalent research institution, or top talent with equivalent qualifications in a renowned domestic university or research institution.

Mainly Supports:

1. Annual package: more than RMB 0.9 million.

2. Start-up funding: more than RMB7.5 million.

3. Housing allowance: RMB 2 million.

4. Lab and office space: about 300 m².

 

Assistant Professor (tenure-track)

Qualifications:

1. An emerging expert with remarkable achievements and outstanding development potential in frontier scientific research.

2. A doctorate degree holder with strong academic research and teaching capabilities.

Mainly Supports:

1. Annual package: more than RMB 0.8 million.

2. Start-up funding: more than RMB 5 million.

3. Housing allowance: RMB 1.5 million.

4. Lab and office space: about 200 m².

1. Long-term support under Medical and Health Science and Technology Innovation Project and Basic Research Fund in CAMS with priority.

2. Support Essential Equipment with priority.
