Symposium Organiser (30%)
In International Cooperation, Caritas Switzerland empowers individuals and communities in approximately 20 countries worldwide, assisting them in escaping poverty and strengthening their resilience. We provide support to vulnerable children and adults in various areas, including income generation, climate resilience, and migration. Through collaboration with local partners, we strive to meet essential needs, uphold human rights, and combat inequality. With the IC Symposium, Caritas Switzerland aims to engage in current discourses of International Cooperation and provide networking platforms. In 2024, the symposium will explore the challenge to balance greening efforts with poverty reduction Interventions. It builds on Caritas Switzerlands’ intervention principles and thematic areas of income and climate, as well as current discourses on green growth and greening policies. It aims to embrace perspectives from different sectors and regions. The symposium will be crafted in a team effort lead by the IC Knowledge & Quality Management (KQM) unit. The symposium organiser will be part of the KQM unit, and act in close collaboration with Caritas Switzerland’s event management and the IC services hub.
Your duties
- Development of the symposium programme
- Research and selection of speakers and panelists
- Contracting of and coordination with expert consultant
- Communication with panelists and speakers
- Coordination with KQM event team
- Coordination of travels in collaboration with IC Service Hub
- Regular meetings with Managementteam/ lead KQM
- Option to provide input/presentation at the symposium
- Contribution to technical documentation
Our requirements
- Higher education degree that relates to the symposiums’ theme
- Experience in developing conference programmes in an international setting
- Conversant with current discourses in International Cooperation
- Strong conceptual thinker, networker, team player
- High self-management competencies
- High organizational and communicative competencies
- Fluent in English
- Language skills in French, Spanish and German is an asset
Your place of work will be Lucerne, partially remote
The position is available immediately or upon agreement.
Limited-term contract until 30.11.2024
