Systems Support Analyst (IT)

Job Description

Learning Support Services (LSS) within the School of International Letters and Cultures at Arizona State University is seeking a talented self-starter who will be responsible for all LSS public-use technology and some office systems, in coordination with the Head of LSS.  The successful candidate will maintain a wide range of technology, including macOS and Windows computers, audio, video, and AV system equipment, and other public-use technology. Main duties will include OS deployment, updating, and securing, documentation of setups and procedures, installation and troubleshooting of computer, audio, and video equipment, research on new possibilities, and management of some office computers. Training of student workers is a possibility. An eye for improvement of equipment, setups, and user experience is highly valued.

Salary Range

$55,000 – 65,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties

  • Deploy reliable, quick, and responsive configurations of macOS and Windows and related applications on Intel and Apple silicon CPUs, with a focus on end-user experience.
  • Install, configure, secure, maintain, troubleshoot, and identify appropriate corrective measures for hardware (IT, audio, and video), software, and operating systems
  • Receive, respond to, and monitor status of requests for technical assistance from within LSS.
  • Help train and develop student workers to provide support to faculty and students within LSS.
  • Create and update documentation for systems and processes.
  • Research and provide recommendations for computers and other technology
  • Ensure compliance with ASU policies on software and hardware
  • Provide professional and positive customer service
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Pick up and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or closely related AND two (2) years providing desktop diagnostic and trouble-shooting support; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in deploying, configuringe, maintaining and troubleshooting macOS and Windows systems.
  • Experience in using deployment systems and tools – (SCCM, JAMF, ASM, Active Directory, Group Policies)
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining various types of communication, collaboration, and audio/video equipment – (e.g. Cynap and Solstice collaboration systems, LCD touchscreens, VR headsets and related equipment, Poly Studio USB Video Bar)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and fixing hardware and network issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of system encryption for laptops, desktops or mobile devices.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Parallels, and VirtualBox.
  • Experience with a variety of standard computer software – (e.g Microsoft Office O365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Screencast-O-Matic)
  • Project management experience (organize and schedule tasks, prioritize)
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
  • Experience in providing exemplary customer service support.
  • Experience in coming up with effective solutions for a variety of situations
  • Demonstrated knowledge with macOS and Windows scripting languages
  • Helpful skills/interests:

○    Knowledge of ASU systems

○    Audio/Video – Camera and microphone setup, sound control, chroma key setup, lighting, etc.
○    AMX experience – setup, programming, user interface design

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking
  • Frequent physical demands may include stooping, bending, crawling under/around objects, reaching, lifting, and pushing objects of varying weights up to 50 pounds
