How can you make a difference?

Finance Assistants provide support in the areas of Payments, General Accounting, Invoice Processing and Master Data Management and are responsible for reviewing case documentation for completeness, validity and conformity with current rules and regulations. These roles are responsible for transactional data entry into electronic systems for verification, ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to supervisors. To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement. University level courses in finance, accounting or business are desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required. (A completed BA degree from an accredited institution qualifies as 3 years’ experience and will be counted towards work experience requirements.)
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and process consistency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information tailoring communications accordingly
  • Experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
  • Work experience with an international organization is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.

Requirement for internal applicants 

Internal applicants (holders of fixed-term, continuing contracts) from the GSSC are required to complete their Learning Paths corresponding to their current level before applying for another position. Additionally, they must attach a snapshot of the completed path to their applications. Applications that do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
