How can you make a difference?

UNICEF is seeking to build a pipeline of qualified and ready to hire candidates for Finance Assistant Roles at GS-5 level in the Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

This is a great opportunity for career development in a fast-paced, multicultural context and for taking the first step towards an international career as part of the UN family.

Finance Assistants provide support in the areas of Payments, General Accounting, Invoice Processing and Master Data Management. Finance Assistants are responsible for reviewing case documentation for completeness, validity and conformity with current rules and regulations. These roles are responsible for transactional data entry into electronic systems for verification, ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to supervisors.

These roles are office-based and ideal for early career professionals who wish to gain international exposure to a progressive expanding Centre of Excellence. Shortlisted candidates will participate in a technical and contextual competency-based interview assessment.

To qualify as a champion for every child, you will have

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e., high school diploma) is a minimum requirement supplemented by University level courses in finance, accounting or business is an asset.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience is required. (A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted as 4 years’ experience and will be counted work experience requirements.)
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint) is required.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and consistency, with strong analytical, data extraction and reporting skills is required.
  • Experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive communication and information and logical thinking are required.
  • Work experience with an international organization is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required.
  • Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.

Remarks:

General Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any travel and accommodation arrangements. UNICEF does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions.  Appointments are also subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
