Carnegie Mellon University’s Finance Division provides financial management, enterprise planning and stewardship in support of education, research and strategic goals of the university. Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Finance is searching for a Tax Accounting Associate to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by assisting in the analysis and interpretation of tax regulations and will assist in the preparation of required tax reports so that the university meets its tax obligations and objectives.
Your core responsibilities will include:

Support tax accounting team in execution of tax processes, in accordance with current legislation and within pre-established deadlines and guidelines with regular supervision of management or senior level tax accountants

Stay abreast of current tax legislation and research federal, state, and local tax-related issues, as needed.

Assist in the preparation and filing of federal, state, county, and local tax returns
-
Assist with compliance in the following areas: unrelated business incomes, state escheatment, non-employee payments, parking tax, sales tax, amusement tax, worker classification review, and quarterly and annual review of Form 1099s/W-9s/TIN matching compliance

Assist the Accounts Payable team as needed

Maintain tax information and records

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related required

1-3 years of tax accounting experience required

A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered

Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in office presence two days a week.
