Carinity Education – Southside is an independent special assistance girl’s school providing secondary education, vocational training and mentoring for students in Years 7 – 12, many of whom identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Students are treated with unconditional positive regard at all times. Many of the young women are from backgrounds of trauma, abuse and neglect, and have complex needs.
What do I need for the role?
- Current Queensland Teaching Registration and Tertiary Qualification in Education
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
- The ability to build rapport with, and support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to assist in their learning
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Blue Card Exemption
Desirable:
- Experience with disengaged youth
- Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Training
- Demonstrated experience in teaching Junior and Senior Humanities and Early Childhood Studies
