Kokoda Track Foundation (KTF) is a not-for-profit, international development organisation dedicated to supporting education, health, equality, and leadership in Papua New Guinea (PNG). We work closely with communities to deliver programs that make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
Role Overview
KTF is seeking an experienced and passionate Primary or Secondary Teacher for a short-term, 3-month contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing our curriculum materials by developing, recording, presenting and uploading content to our content management system. This content will supplement the educational resources we provide to schools and communities in remote regions of PNG.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Educational Content: Create engaging and curriculum-aligned materials for primary and/or secondary levels tailored to the PNG education system;
- Produce Instructional Media: Record high-quality videos and audio;
- Content Management: Upload, organise, and maintain educational materials on the content management system (CMS) to ensure easy access for teachers and students in PNG;
- Collaborate with Education Team: Work closely with KTF’s education team to ensure all content aligns with existing curriculum goals and strategic objectives;
- Curriculum Enhancement: Provide constructive feedback on curriculum materials and recommend improvements based on teaching experience and best practices;
- Teacher Training: Assist in training local teachers on effectively utilising the newly developed content and integrating it into their teaching practices;
- Evaluate Content Impact: Monitor and assess the effectiveness of educational materials, gathering feedback from educators and students;
- Adapt Content for Local Needs: Modify and tailor content to address specific challenges and requirements identified in remote PNG schools;
- Ensure Cultural Sensitivity: Develop materials that are culturally sensitive and appropriate for the PNG context.
Skills & Experience Required
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field;
- Teaching Experience: Proven experience teaching at the primary or secondary level;
- Curriculum Development: Experience in curriculum development and instructional design;
- Educational Support Material Development: Expertise in creating educational support materials to enhance the syllabus;
- Media Production Skills: Proficiency in recording and basic editing of educational content;
- Digital Proficiency: Familiarity with content management systems or e-learning platforms;
- Remote Work Capability: Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote work environment;
- Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.
Desirable Attributes
- Rural/Remote Experience: Previous experience working in rural or remote contexts;
- Understanding of Educational Challenges: Awareness of the unique educational challenges faced by remote communities;
- Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable, capable of thriving in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment.
