As a Teacher, will be a key contributor in providing assistance and support to students in achieving their academic and personal goals, identifying personal support needs/strategies for overcoming barriers to education, actively encouraging the spiritual growth and cultural development of young Indigenous female students.
The role is based at Carinity Education – Southside, this institution is an independent special assistance girl’s school providing secondary education, vocational training and mentoring for students in Years 7 – 12, many of whom identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Students are treated with unconditional positive regard at all times. Many of the young women are from backgrounds of trauma, abuse and neglect, and have complex needs.

What do I need for the role?
- Availability to work Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 to 3:00
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds
- The ability to build rapport with, and support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to assist in their learning
- Flexible and enthusiastic approach to teaching and learning and a belief in the possibility of all youth
Desirable:
- Experience with disengaged youth would be an advantage.
- Teacher of Humanities and English subjects
- TCI training is an advantage
