In its third phase, the “Science meets Dharma” project focuses on the further education of monastic primary school teachers, mainly in pedagogy and didactics. A four-week advanced training course is planned annually for those primary school teachers in South India. Responsibilities:
– Conduct an approximately 4-week training course annually for teachers of the monastic primary schools.
– Develop a curriculum for the training courses for primary school teachers, with a focus on subject didactics for science education, emphasizing general didactics/pedagogy.
– In Switzerland: The thematic and didactic preparation of these courses.
– On-site: The practical preparation (material procurement) and implementation of the courses.
– Training in teaching reflection through discussions with participants before, during, and after the courses.
Skills required
Requirements:
– Proficiency in English as the language of instruction (will be translated into Tibetan).
– Some life experience in a country of the Global South.
– Completed training as a primary or lower secondary school teacher.
– Many years of relevant professional experience, preferably also as a mentor teacher.
– Ideally, experience in teaching pedagogy and didactics to other teachers.
– Interest and ability to engage respectfully with a foreign culture, reflect on it and your own background, and continuously learn in the process.
– Willingness to travel to South India for five weeks every year (starting in 2025).
