Position description

Agora Energiewende is looking for a Team Assistant to support our EU Policy Team in its work and to ensure a functioning back office for Agora’s Brussels-based colleagues.

We are a mission-driven think tank, independent of government and business interests, looking to build the bridge between research and political decision-making.

As the world’s energy systems are changing and renewable energy has moved from a niche technology to broad-scale adoption, we support decision-makers and stakeholders at all levels in navigating the technical, economic, and political complexities of the transformation. As an independent think tank, we develop evidence-based strategies for ensuring the success of clean energy transitions around the globe. We share knowledge with stakeholders in the realms of politics, business, and academia while enabling a productive exchange of ideas.

Our work requires not only energy experts, but also the support of experts in administration of different kinds as crucial and highly valued members of the team.

Our growing team is multinational, multidisciplinary, and works across the globe with various partners. This broad network calls for a great amount of organisation and a stable setup. To strengthen our office structure consisting of four offices in Berlin (main office), Brussels, Bangkok and Beijing we are seeking at the earliest possible starting date a Team Assistant EU Policy (f/m/d), Brussels-based/full- or part-time.

In this role, you support both the EU Policy team and Agora’s Brussels office. Equipped with a variety of skills, ranging from financial management to event planning, you have a strong sense of self-initiative and enjoy working in a dynamic and multicultural environment. While you may not have experience in the clean energy sector, you have an interest in climate protection and EU policymaking more broadly.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the administration of 5-7 grants for the EU Policy team (budgeting, tracking, reporting) in close coordination with the Europe Director, programme leads and the finance department;
  • Helping colleagues to organise workshops and meetings, as well as supporting the Events team in the planning and execution of public events in Brussels;
  • Working with other assistants to ensure a functioning back-office for the colleagues in Brussels, under the supervision of the office manager;
  • Providing daily administrative support to the EU Policy team (organisation of meetings, invoices, scheduling, etc.).

We are looking for:

  • A motivated and enthusiastic new colleague with a practical hands-on approach to every-day professional challenges;
  • A university degree or vocational training and work experience in a related field;
  • A high degree of self-organisation, a sense of calm and orientation in often hectic schedules;
  • Someone who enjoys teamwork and has the capacity to liaise with both senior and junior colleagues, and to facilitate smooth outcomes among different teams;
  • Very confident handling of MS Office applications, especially Excel;
  • Full command of the English language in reading and writing, knowledge of French is a plus.

We assume that there are excellent candidates for the job who do not meet all the criteria in the description. Maybe you have certain skills we haven’t thought of yet? Tell us why you are the right person for the job.

We offer:

  • An opportunity to work in a highly motivated and professional team;
  • Diverse experience, including professional relationships with colleagues and visitors from a variety of countries around the globe;
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement;
  • 29 vacation days, flexible working hours, mental wellbeing support, contribution to meal vouchers and medical insurance as well as remote work opportunities;
  • A cooperative working atmosphere with flat communication and decision-making hierarchies;
  • An attractive workplace in the center of Brussels and the option of hybrid working with good digital equipment;
  • A structured onboarding programme and regular team and organisation-wide retreats to bring us all together; and
  • A flexible part-time or full-time role with an unlimited employment duration.
