Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.
ABOUT THE TEAM
Walytjapiti means full family, group or gathering of relations. Strength, culture and land are also implicit in the word. The Walytjapiti team deliver trauma informed therapeutic case management with families across nine remote communities in the Northern Territory, APY and NG lands.
Walytjapiti work in partnership with families to build on their strengths to care for and grow up strong children connected to family, country and culture.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are now recruiting for Team Leader to become part of the Child and Family Wellbeing Service. This position is based in Alice Springs with travel to the NPY region.
You will work with families and children who are at risk of child protection intervention, working to support and strengthen families in order for children to remain safe, happy and protected in their families and communities. This role will also work closely with Anangu communities, NPYWC directors, members and client families.
ABOUT YOU
You will have a background in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or Community Development and/or relevant experience. You will supervise a team of eight Walytjapiti case managers and project officers working across nine communities in the Northern Territory, APY lands of South Australia and Western Australia.You will lead the Walytjapiti team in developing and delivering services that are strength based and trauma informed, and that best meet the needs of vulnerable families living in the NPY region.
