Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being.

About The Role

The Team Leader – Client Engagement plays a pivotal role in coordinating and supervising the Client Engagement Team, which includes the Welcome, Access, and Intake Teams, as well as the Access and Intervention Worker.

This position focuses on ensuring a rapid, high-quality, and impactful client experience and service delivery embedded in trauma-informed practice. You will work closely with the Team Leader – Social Service to develop and maintain a ‘one team’ culture.

This is an ongoing Part-Time 0.9 FTE position.

About You

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, passionate and adaptable leader within the social worker space. In addition to your extensive social work experience and demonstrated skills in people management and program leadership, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Humanitarian Services, or a related discipline.
  • Experience as a social worker, case worker, or in a related discipline.
  • Adaptive and excellent complex interpersonal capabilities with the ability to influence others.
  • Problem-solving, multitasking, and decision-making abilities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience with trauma-informed practice, human rights-based approach, and strengths-based practice.
  • Experience in psychosocial assessment, crisis response, and service coordination for people seeking asylum, refugees, or clients with complex needs.
  • Excellent organisational skills and adaptability in a continually changing environment.
  • Experience with Quality Standards and external frameworks, including Child Safety, MARAM, and Human Rights-Based Approach.
  • High-level skills and understanding of working with culturally diverse populations and commitment to culturally inclusive practice.
  • Understanding the impacts of trauma, homelessness, mental health, child protection, and family violence.

Lived experience of seeking asylum in Australia is highly desirable. Knowledge of policy and issues impacting on people seeking asylum in Australia as well as previous experience working within a not-for-profit environment, would also be advantageous.
