About this opportunity:

You will support the Program Manager in the development, implementation, and coordination of programs to enhance clinical practices and meet organisational and funding agreements.

This role will be responsible for ensuring that clinical team members have a sound understanding of the underlying principles, theory and essential qualities of informed and considered clinical practice within the therapeutic environment.

Duties include but are not limited to…

  • Effectively lead the team in Clinical care
    • Role modelling, supervision, mentoring and support.
    • Providing advice and direction in all aspects of clinical care
    • Overseeing and participating in therapy team reviews, case reviews and other meetings
    • Presenting organised and timely reports to supervision groups and staff meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with the Program Manager in the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of client-focused clinical practice.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and be open to receiving constructive feedback in all areas of clinical practice.
  • Manage and support Clinical staff to ensure operational targets and objectives are achieved.
  • Work collaboratively with Admissions to ensure operational targets and objectives are achieved.
  • Facilitate therapy groups and individual sessions.
  • Supervise and support all activities related to client assessment, pre-residential support, and admission to the TC.
  • Monitor and support the timely assessment and treatment response for priority client groups: Koori, Justice, Family Drug Treatment court, forensic, etc.
  • Keep abreast of current research and publications on Therapeutic Community advances and treatment models.
  • Provide leadership and professional development opportunities and contribute to the work of the staff, flexibly responding to needs, and giving and receiving support and constructive feedback.
  • Conduct annual staff appraisals (PDR’s) and develop work plans for staff with the facilitation of Senior Clinicians.
  • Liaise and provide education, information, and support regarding the TC program to community agencies involved in the referral of clients.
  • Participate and support reviews of standards in the TC including “Community of Community” reviews.
  • Participate in an ‘on call’ roster with other senior staff including the possibility of recall.

Key Selection Criteria:

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic leader to provide clinical leadership to our clinicians and senior clinicians.

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following:

  1. Degree/Tertiary qualification in Health, Mental Health, or Allied Health or an Associate Diploma with substantial experience with a minimum of the AOD Skill Set for Health Professionals (or commitment to obtain one of these within 12 months of employment).*(Refer Appendix A)
  2. Extensive experience in leading and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, giving, and receiving feedback, and recognising and resolving interpersonal and team conflicts.
  3. A leadership style that embraces accountability, teamwork, and shared responsibility.
  4. Outstanding communication skills (both verbal and written) and demonstrated experience preparing and presenting reports, briefings, and correspondence.
  5. Demonstrated ability to engage in the process of creating, acquiring, and transferring knowledge to inform organisational and therapeutic processes.
  6. High level case management and group management skills and the ability to work with complex clients.
  7. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of high-quality therapeutic service delivery, coupled with a strong theoretical and practice base in the principles of recovery, and a commitment to community education and health promotion.
  8. High-level stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships and communicate with a wide variety of agencies and individuals at various levels.
  9. Well-developed capacity to continuously review and make responsive changes where needed to ensure a high standard of service delivery.
  10. Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, balance competing demands and priorities work effectively.
