Be the Team Leader for headspace Early Psychosis in new team of headspace Canberra servicing ACT.

  • Psychologist or Mental Health Social Worker or Reg Nurse or Occupational Therapist
  • Lead Multi-disciplinary teams servicing community mental health
  • New headspace in ACT with psychiatrists in the team

Role Overview

The Team Leader provides clinical leadership and line management to a multidisciplinary team in line with the EPPIC (Early Psychosis Prevention and Intervention Centre) Framework for the headspace Early Psychosis (hEP) service in Canberra.

They prioritise the provision of recovery focused services that aim to restore and maintain normal functional trajectory of the young person from employment, educational and social perspectives in line with the EPPIC Framework.

They will provide clinical support and guidance to staff and play a key role in ensuring adequate supervision of staff, clinical and caseload reviews and actively manage referrals and demand for the service.

As Team Leader, your duties will include:

  • Operationalise the Centre funding contract into a pragmatic annual work plan.
  • Communicate, promote and embed the vision for the headspace service amongst staff, consortium partners and the broader community.
  • Oversee all day-to-day operations of the centre and staff management including recruitment (of clinicians), supervision, onboarding, and training.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff in relation to appropriate data collection in line with clinical best practice, funding body KPIs, organisational priorities and policy requirements.
  • Prepare funding body or management reports on program outcomes, with relevant evidence and data as required.
  • Ensure the utilisation of any designated screening tools, such as the K10+ and Biopsychosocial assessments, or any other measures/tools applicable to the service delivery model

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, Social Worker).
  • Full membership with AHPRA or an appropriate professional body.
  • Typically this role will require five (5) or more years’ experience in your field of expertise, including two (2) or more years experience supervising a multidisciplinary team
  • Apply the EPPIC Framework under the guidance of the Operations Manager,  embedding local processes for your team that are evidence-based and recovery focused.
  • Support activities to meet workforce requirements for your team including recruitment, supervision, education, training, professional development and workforce capability management.
  • Steward mechanisms to capture, analyse and respond to feedback from young people and their families/significant others.
  • Proven expertise in the application of evidence based clinical practice within the mental health field in both a case management and therapeutic role.
  • Substantial experience in the coordination of individualised psychosocial interventions to meet the needs of young people presenting with a variety of mental health concerns.
  • In consultation with the Operations Manager, adopt required governance structures for clinical and operational processes, identifying risk and escalating when necessary.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to create a team culture and performance that is based on hope, optimism and a recovery framework for young people.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation to the service, such as the Australian Capital Territory Mental Health Act (2015) and the Children and Young Persons Act (2008), and Best Practice guidelines for service delivery in mental health.
