VincentCare’s Marian Community program provides a 24/7 Specialist Family Violence Crisis Service to victim survivors at risk of or experiencing high-risk family violence in the Goulburn region of Victoria. The services are primarily available in the City of Greater Shepparton, Moira and Strathbogie Shires but provides an enhanced after hour’s response that includes Mitchell and Murrindindi Shires.

About the Role:

As the Team Leader Refuge, you will play an integral role in building a supportive, collaborative and driven environment to Marian Community Specialist Family Violence Team. You will be working closely with your team as you provide leadership, direction, and opportunities to grow.

In addition to being a source of leadership in this program, you will also be responsible for the coordination of the day-to-day function of VincentCare’s Family Violence Refuge and Crisis Accommodation properties. In managing these properties, you will be working with local and state-based services as you coordinate intake and referrals, suitability and prioritisation changes, and placements for individuals accessing our Refuge support.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Supporting the Team Leader and Program Manager, Specialist Family Violence Services to identify, create and implement program reviews, needs analysis, risk assessments and change management processes.
  • Maintaining and participating in the 24/7 on-call roster and supporting caseloads as needs be.
  • Supporting the Marian Community Practitioners to deliver high quality case management services.
  • Supporting and implementing appropriate advocacy on behalf of victim survivors to maximise access to services and interventions.
  • Promoting a person centred and positive recovery journey.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be considered for this position, you will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, or other equivalent qualifications/experience as outlined in Recommendation 209.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the intersectionality in family violence, and the nature, dynamics and impact of family violence across a broad range of familial relationships. You have a genuine passion for supporting people and your warm and empathetic demeanour will forge strong professional relationships with a variety of individuals.

More specifically, you will have:

  • Experience (minimum 3-5 years) within the family violence response and case management sector;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing teams to achieve positive outcomes including facilitating reflective practice, supervision and professional development;
  • An understanding of issues affecting people in crisis who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness and evidenced ability to provide holistic responses to address complex needs;
  • An understanding of practices that integrate a trauma-informed approach, MARAM and IS reform practice principles;
  • Demonstrated confidence and experience in managing conflict and challenging behaviours;
  • An Ability to demonstrate culturally sensitive practice in relation to family violence, inclusive of the needs of LGBTIQ+, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse peoples;
  • Ability to take initiative, act with confidence and exercise sound judgement;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
