Carrie’s Place provides domestic and family violence and homelessness services to vulnerable people in the Maitland, Port Stephens, Cessnock, Dungog, and Upper Hunter Valley regions. About the opportunity

The Team Leader exercises a high level of responsibility for the overall management of the SHS services, providing leadership across the Intake, Outreach and Accommodation teams. Working in close partnership with the Program Manager you will ensure that planning, policies and systems enhance service capability and capacity.

Duties Include:

  • Oversee and ensure the provision of intake, assessment, rapid response and case management to people experiencing Domestic Violence and/or homelessness utilising a client centred, and trauma informed approach
  • Provide leadership and day to day supervision to the team and support staff to access regular external supervision where relevant
  • Financial administration such as brokerage and participation in budget planning, management and review according to the funding guidelines
  • Contribute to the development of an organisational strategy, and consultation on policies and procedures including providing operational advice related to organisational plans, programs and services
  • Actively maintain networks within the community and with the relevant agencies in order to advocate individual client issues, funding and community issues related to homelessness. This includes active participation in the sector, peak bodies and training or development opportunities.

About you

The successful candidate will have leadership experience in a community services environment, with a commitment to feminist philosophy, social justice, and human rights.

Experience specifically within the domestic violence or homelessness sector will be highly regarded and you will have a passion to ensure the voice of the client is heard in planning, service design, and continuous quality improvements.

In addition, we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to recruit, train, supervise, and support teams, fostering ethical, high-performance cultures
  • High level of emotional maturity, including respectful and ethical behaviour
  • Excellent communication skills in management, negotiation, advocacy, and conflict resolution, with the ability to engage effectively with clients in crisis using trauma-informed approaches
  • Ability to develop and implement service delivery strategies ensuring relevance, accessibility, and responsiveness to diverse populations, including Aboriginal and CALD communities
  • Experience in financial management including forecasting, budget preparation, monitoring, and reporting
  • Tertiary qualification in social or behavioral sciences (minimum diploma level)

This role requires a current Working with Children Check, relevant NSW Police Force check, COVID Vaccination Certificate, and current unrestricted Driver’s License.

Benefits

The position is offered at SCHADS Level 6.1 and has the benefit of a 9-day, 70 hour fortnight. As Carrie’s Place is a not-for-profit this position also has the benefit of salary sacrificing up to $15,900, increasing the overall salary package. 5 weeks annual leave and personal wellbeing allowance is also on offer.
