A bit about the role

As a growing municipality, Wyndham City Council is changing rapidly to respond to community need. As Team Leader Universal MCH, you will develop and lead a team within our Universal MCH service to drive clinical excellence and provide guidance to our Universal nursing team.

Working closely with the Service Lead Universal MCH and Partnerships, in addition to collaboration with the Child Family Health and Wellbeing Leadership group, you will ensure that we are aligning the program requirements and operational practices with the strategic direction of the Unit. Your experience will see you influencing and developing these practices to best fit the needs of our clients, whilst ensuring compliance with the variety of service agreements and guidelines in place.

What you will deliver

  • Leadership and guidance to our Universal nursing team, being a key point of escalation on clinical matters
  • Identification and promotion of opportunities for future focused improvement to our services
  • Drive the success of our unit to meet State Government service plan targets, whilst providing accurate reports and advice
  • Support the unit through the operational expectations of our strategic planning, translating our vision into tangible outcomes for our clients
  • Ensuring that our team adheres to the code of ethics for the Nursing and Midwifery professions, MCH nursing practice standards and legislative requirements

What you will bring

Mandatory Qualifications to practice as a MCH Nurse in Victoria, as outlined in the Position Description:

  • Current registration with AHPRA
  • Registered Nurse (Division 1)
  • Registered Midwife

In addition to the above registrations, accredited postgraduate Diploma/Degree (or equivalent) in Child and Family Health Nursing.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience, within a Maternal and Child Health team
  • Experience working in MCH nursing for a minimum of five years (desirable)
  • Exceptional organisation, time management and reporting understanding, to ensure we successfully meet our service standards
  • Ability to problem solve, with the lens of client experience, identifying innovative solutions to emerging issues in the sector
  • A collaborative approach to service delivery to better meet the needs of our families
  • A current Victorian Working with Children’s check
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
