The Rivers Trust is a leading environmental charity and the umbrella body of The Rivers
Trust movement, comprising over 65 independent local charities. Our vision is for wild,
healthy, natural rivers, valued by all. We are at a critical point in our history as we expand
to deliver projects to protect and replenish this critical part of the natural environment, and
our research and expertise is now needed more urgently than ever as water supply and quality
move up the public agenda.

We are looking for a GIS professional with experience utilising the Esri stack of applications,
including ArcGIS Online. You will be working within our friendly and growing technical team
which supports integrated catchment management in the UK and the Island of Ireland.

the option of a 9-day fortnight – time off in lieu is also available. We offer 25 days holiday
pro rata (rising to 28 days) plus statutory holiday days. We are happy to make adjustments for
people with disabilities and/or caring responsibilities, and we welcome applications from all
communities.

Part time applications are also welcome with a minimum requirement of 0.6 FTE or 22.5 hours per
week – this could be worked over three, four or five days.

The salary for the role is £27,888 – £31,373 per year depending on experience (pro-rata
for part-time).

    with our partners.
  • Providing GIS support and training for our member Rivers Trusts in the UK and Ireland, and
Catchment-Based Approach (CaBA) partnerships in England – this involves working with and
communicating with people that have a wide range of technical abilities.
  • Supporting the management of The Rivers Trust’s ArcGIS environment, including administering
ArcGIS Online, managing user licences and monitoring credit usage.

For the Technical Analyst (GIS) role we are looking for someone who has:

  • Experience with the Esri stack of applications including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
  • Experience delivering technical support services or training
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work well in a team
  • A good understanding of how data and digital tools underpin collaborative action for the
    environment

All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be based in the UK.

The following are helpful and may be used to decide who to invite for interview, please include
them if you have them:

  • Degree-level education in a relevant field

    and StoryMaps
  • Understanding of catchment and/or freshwater science
  • Experience with other GIS software packages such as QGIS
  • Knowledge or experience of coding languages such as Python or R
  • Experience of working from home

You will also be expected to follow all Rivers Trust policies, including GDPR, EDI and Health
& Safety and contribute to an inclusive and respectful working culture at all times. It is
essential that you have access to secure and private accommodation suitable for working for
home, and a reliable broadband connection.
