Job Summary |
Reporting to the Senior Director of IT Client Services, this position will be responsible for event space technologies and audio-visual setups and operations for on-campus events. This position requires a strong technical knowledge of sound systems, projector and screen systems, streaming platforms, campus event spaces, and more. Essential functions of this role includes:
- Working closely with the Office of Events and Summer Programs, the President’s Office, and Development and Alumni Relations teams, handling all aspects of the technology set ups and operations for large, strategic events, including named weekend events, trustee events, Commencement, Baccalaureate, endowed chair and other sponsored lectures, campus town hall meetings, Reunion, and other large campus events that have complex technology set-ups.
- Facilitating streaming of various live events to the College’s streaming platform.
- Uploading recorded content to College’s video channels while ensuring appropriate digital rights of the presenter, audience, etc.
- Establishing and maintaining good relationships with vendors who provide technical set-ups such as AV Tecknik, Headlight AV, etc. to ensure that equipment is reserved and set up according to event plan timeline provided by various internal clients.
- Partnering with IT Equipment and Construction Manager on new construction or renovations/updates involving new event-related equipment to determine space technology needs, sound systems and set-up needs.
- Overseeing a part-time Audio Engineer responsible for the technical equipment in the recital hall and other music venues on campus. Assign tasks and follow-up with faculty and others on student and other performances in those spaces.
- Partnering with other departments such as Facilities (grounds/events set-ups), Capital Projects, Treasurer, and others in IT on space assessments, data management of event equipment, procedures, and other duties as necessary.
- Assisting IT Client Services with drafting departmental communication about events or technical changes impacting campus.
- Leveraging and applying assistive technologies to advance the College’s accessibility goals and comply with the College’s captioning policy.
- Participating in the annual budget process in support of the Senior Director Client Services to address technology needs and equipment replacement.

Education/Skills Requirements |
Required:
- Vocational degree in audio engineering or another technical field.
- Skills with troubleshooting computer systems and how they relate to AV systems and be able to quickly identify an issue and resolve it while under pressure.
- Strong communication (listening, verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Be able to provide logical and effective troubleshooting, often under stressful time constraints.
- Even-tempered, positive, and approachable.
- Diplomatic and able to manage stressful situations.
- Specialized training acquired from college, technical vocational, trade or business school.
- Must be a team player.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with limited supervision.
- Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements of the College’s current motor vehicle policy and be able to drive a passenger van and have a valid Maine driver’s license.
- The successful candidate will be subject to a background check.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents |
Required:
- 5 years’ experience working in a technical event production environment.
- Experience in working with, training and scheduling staff and events.
- Experience in staffing for, setting up, and taking down technology for events.
- Experience with live-stream and/or recording technologies for various types of events.
- Experience with audio input and output into various audio systems including TriCaster or house audio systems.
- Provide superior client service while maintaining ideas of safety and security for self, the college and technical AV systems.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of working in an academic environment.

Standard Work Days and Hours |
- This position is full-time, year-round position working 40 hours/week (1.00 FTE).
- Some specific nights and weekends required, including Memorial Day weekend.
- The anticipated start date will be on or after January 8, 2024.
