We are looking for a senior member to join the digital team within Research and Enterprise Services, supporting an innovative Cyber Security based programme at Lancaster University. The project provides a research and development service for small to medium sized businesses (SMEs), providing cyber security awareness training through to the exploration of new product ideas enabling beneficiaries to work at a reduced risk. We are seeking to recruit a highly skilled person to support the promotion and delivery of this unique business support programme which will be available to businesses across a range of industrial sectors in Lancashire and Cumbria.
You will need to be able to demonstrate a range of practical technical experience in software development and programming with the ability to contribute to development and consultancy projects as needed. No two client projects will be the same so the successful candidate must have the flexibility to adapt and quickly adopt new technical skills and approaches. A sound working knowledge of secure development practices would be advantageous and you will be expected to contribute to the development of team processes regarding cyber security. The role is part of a unique offering to small/medium sized businesses and is not a typical development position. The role offers a chance to gain experience in a range of projects incorporating cyber security best practice and would perhaps suit a developer looking to move into a more senior role.
Good communication skills are essential as is the ability to work with business to assess their requirements. You will be creative in supporting businesses to innovate and develop new products and services through the application of the relevant digital technology. The job will also include the mentoring of graduate developers in their professional development. The role will be partly based at Lancaster University and home based, however there is the expectation that the successful candidate will to travel to meetings at client company locations throughout the North-West region.
