Provide technical guidance inresponse to any importation of wild poliovirus or outbreak of circulatingvaccine derived poliovirus in previously polio-free areasCoordinate with GPEI partnersthrough IMST and ORPG for strengthening planning and implementation response tothe outbreaks in accordance with global guidelines. Administer and facilitate three-,six-month and end of outbreak assessments of status of outbreaks, effectivenessof response and the likelihood of continuing transmission.Plan, prioritize andcoordinate allocation of vaccine supplies, funding, and human resources basedon thorough understanding of risks and poliovirus situation and in closecoordination with HQ, countries and partners.Monitor data from thecountries on risks for polio outbreaks, preventive measures and progress inoutbreak response activities. Identify constraints and work with the regionaland country colleagues to develop a plan of action to overcome these constraints.Develop SOPs, guidelinesand other tools that provide evidence and advice on the best practicestrategies for interrupting poliovirus transmission.Identify training needs,evaluate and document outbreak response activities to ensure that all lessonslearned are effectively incorporated into current best practices. Coordinate with EPI andother stakeholders to develop approaches that can achieve polio eradicationwhile contributing to strengthening routine immunization systems.Track regional and country performanceagainst GPEI 2022-2025 key performance indicators (KPIs), identify constraintsand work with the concerned stakeholders in addressing the constraints. Contribute to lessons learned,cases studies, and other regional documentation with Communications, asrelevant.
Required Qualifications:
Education
Essential:
  • University degree and Master’s degreein public health, health policy, epidemiology, related science or healthdiscipline
Experience
Essential:
  • At least seven years ofrelevant experience with international exposure in public health out of which at least 4 years in vaccine-preventable disease programs..
Skills:
  • Good knowledge of public health, with broad practical knowledge of principals of monitoring andevaluation. Strong ability and experience with analysis of surveillance, immunization monitoring and epidemiologic data. Strong technical writing and analytical skills.
Language Skills:
Essential:
  • Expert knowledge of English.
