JOB DESCRIPTION

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

To eradicate polio from Afghanistan through routine, Supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) and highly sensitive surveillance system for Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP).

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will be responsible to:

1. Provide technical input in planning, implementation and monitoring of Supplementary immunization activities (SIAs) in the field.

2. Undertake frequent travel to different regions of the country particularly Southern region to supervise SIAs and oversee the process of different type of data collection and timely analysis for its use and preparing country SIAs reports.

3. Take all necessary measures to ensure achievements/ maintenance of high vaccination coverage, particularly in the Low performing Districts.

4. Update guidelines training modules and other materials and assist in development of monitoring and evaluation tools.

5. Facilitate training and other capacity building activities for national staff as well as suggest measures for its appropriate training on newly introduced interventions.

6. Strength surveillance for other vaccine preventable disease; ensure appropriate monitoring of routine EPI activities and timely analysis of routine EPI data for corrective actions.

7. Prepare and submit a monthly report on the activities undertaken.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University Degree in Medicine.
Desirable: Post graduate qualifications in Epidemiology / Public Health

 

Experience

Essential: At least two years’ experience working in EPI/ Polio eradication or PHC with public and/or Private sector.
Desirable: Experience of work in UN and/or other international organizations.

 

 

Skills

Sound technical knowledge on epidemiology and surveillance of vaccine preventable; prevention and control measures and preparedness and response. Ability to establish harmonious working relations with national counterparts and international colleagues.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 45,101 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
