This position works with technical specialists within our private sector area to develop comprehensive product documentation and end-user documentation such as instruction manuals, reference guides, and training modules. The technical writer would translate complex information into polished content and write user-friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience.
Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly review supporting documents and work with the team to develop a detailed outline that will guide the organization and content of technical documentation.
- Interview and gather technical information from a team of technical specialists.
- Develop a narrative by collecting, integrating, and ensuring the quality of inputs and contributions from subject matter specialists.
- Review, revise, and edit the technical contributions provided by subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with project leaders to incorporate the suggestions and feedback of technical document reviewers in a timely manner.
- Develop visuals and graphics that reinforce narrative messages.
- Follow project calendar and meet established deadlines.
Qualifications :
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is required and a focus on environmental science, forestry, ecology, environmental policy, geography, or a related discipline preferred.
Work Experience:
- Two or more years of experience as a technical writer. Experience in writing documentation and procedure manuals for business audiences is preferred.
Skills:
- Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex subject matter.
- Superb organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Exceptional conceptual, analytical, writing, and editing skills, including knack for synthesizing large amounts of information into persuasive, clear language and graphics.
- Ability to consistently meet proposal deadlines.
