Job Description

The Laboratory Technician will work in the Semiconductor, BioSensors, Thin Film Applications, Solar Optics, Fiber Optics and Physical Optics Fabrication / Teaching Labs Facility located on the seventh floor of the Jack E. Brown Building (JEB). The teaching labs facility is for conducting the lab sections for several undergraduate and graduate ECEN courses involving semiconductor devices, thin-film technologies and microelectromechanical systems and optical component systems. It consists of a list of equipment for physical vapor deposition, photolithography, thermal deposition, wet etching, device testing and characterization, physical optics, solar optics, fiber optics and nano optics. The Laboratory Technician will report to both the Laboratory Manager and the Supervisor.

Qualifications* 

Minimum qualifications for a Technician I: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with no prior experience.

Minimum qualifications for a Technician II: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and two years of related experience.

The well-qualified candidates would possess the following: 

• Hands-on experience in mechanical and electrical equipment along with the understanding of building utilities and servicing.
• Hands-on experience in semiconductor fabrication, equipment fabrication, installation and servicing.
