This is an opportunity to be a key part of a close-knit team responsible for the fixed line and mobile telecoms services within the University. You will be involved in the wide-ranging technical activities of the Telecoms team, supporting and delivering enterprise grade communication services.
A key aspect of this role is to manage, support and maintain our existing VoIP solution which is a critical feature in both the day-to-day operation of the University but also key to the smooth delivery of our Clearing strategy.
You will also provide a pivotal role in supporting the current project to upgrade the existing telecoms platform into Microsoft Teams, being first point of contact for support, liaising with vendors, helping departments to switch to the new system and assisting ad-hoc core telecoms duties.
Working closely with team members, you will liaise directly with colleagues across all departments to understand requirements and issues, providing technical advice in clear practical terms. As part of a large organisation, you will need experience of working in a methodical, accountable way observing change control procedures and collaborating with colleagues to share information and knowledge.
This is a hands-on role that will provide you with development across a wide variety of technologies. To be effective in this role, you will need:
- An understanding of VoIP, UC applications (MS Teams), contact centre, PSTN, mobile and GSM technologies.
- Practical experience of supporting and configuring VoIP telephony systems; fault-diagnosis, Moves Adds & Changes, performance monitoring
- First class customer service to clients.
This is a full-time permanent position based on the Moulsecoomb campus and working across all university sites. The role allows for hybrid working on campus and at the employee’s home with flexibility of working hours, while occasional work outside of normal business hours is expected especially for testing Clearing systems
