Position Summary: 

 

This recruitment is for Temporary Admitting Worker positions through UCI’s internal temporary staffing service. Positions can be located at:

 

·         UC Irvine – Campus

·         UC Irvine Medical Center – Orange,

·         Santa Ana,

·         Tustin,

·         Yorba Linda,

·         Costa Mesa, or

·         Newport Beach

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

 

·         Screening patients for admission into UCI medical facilities.

·         Determining eligibility and assigning pay rates for patients accepted for care.

·         Making financial arrangements for hospital and clinic patients.

·         Verifying insurance and taking co-pays.

·         Maintaining patient medical records.

·         Answering phone calls and emails

·         Scheduling patients for appointments.

 

Compensation Range: 

 

$21.48/hour (within full range of $21.48 – $26.65/hour).

 

Required: 

 

·         One year of general clerical experience or completion of vocational training in the medical front office field.

·         Knowledge of medical terminology.

·         Data entry experience.

·         Experience using electronic medical records (EMS) systems.

·         Experience working in customer service environments.

 

Preferred: 

 

·         Experience working in a medical setting for one year or more.

·         Experience with EPIC EMR system.

·         Knowledge of healthcare insurances.

·         Experience with billing.

 

TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT 

 

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. Interviewing and hiring is based on internal hiring needs and how well the candidate’s experience matches the assignment requirements. Certain temporary assignments may require clearance of a health physical or require a valid California Driver’s License for driving university vehicles. 

 

The majority of our temporary positions are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. We also have occasional part-time, weekend, and evening hours available, depending on the assignment. Comprehensive benefits options are also available for temporary employees, including paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
