Temporary Anthropometry Survey Assistant

FEED the Children Malawi is looking to engage the following open temporary position in Lilongwe. The temporary position will be for a duration of two – three week intervals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the anthropometric measurements and ensure proper, clear and accurate data recording in the sheets provided
  • Ensure that all the anthropometric equipment are in working condition (calibration of equipment done according to approved guidelines)
  • Work with the frontline workers to maintain the referral system at community level
  • Finalize all questionnaires into the smartphones and transfer anthropometric data into ENA for SMART
  • Check and report any suspect data using appropriate sections of the SMART plausibility

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in a related field such as public health, nutrition, anthropology, biology, social sciences, or any health-related discipline.
  • Training in anthropometric data collection, particularly in nutritional assessments, can be an advantage.
  • Certification in basic anthropometry or nutritional assessment, such as SMART (Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transitions) or other relevant methodologies, may be preferred.
  • Proficiency in using anthropometric measurement tools (e.g., height boards, scales, measuring tapes).
  • Ability to accurately measure and record height, weight, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC), and other key anthropometric data.
  • Familiarity with data collection software or devices, including tablets and smartphones.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
