The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), headquartered in New York, with operations in more than 190 countries, has more than 3,350 motorized assets, of which 290 are motorcycles, 2,554 light vehicles, 390 are armoured vehicles and the remainder include boats, and miscellaneous equipment, all with a combined acquisition value of more than $130 million.
Effective and efficient transport for staff, equipment and supplies in the field is a mission critical requirement to ensure effective delivery of UNICEF’s mandate and to achieve its programme objectives.
Fleet performance is not universally measured or monitored in terms of cost, road safety, environmental impact or programme delivery.
In the context of the ongoing UN Reform, where all agencies are being encouraged to improve business processes that yield savings and improve performance, vehicle fleet acquisition and operations have been identified as an area where efficiencies can be exploited.

The incumbent is accountable for provision of technical and financial management expertise in the area of fleet management which includes, technical advices in relation to mobility, analysis of the efficiencies of various initiatives that UNICEF has signed up with the aim of improving performance whilst taking advantage of platforms offered by other UN agencies – the viability of these platforms needs to be constantly monitored and feedback given to the service providers to ensure services are still provided efficiently. Provide financial and administrative technical support in the implementation of the vehicles leasing programme, and report savings.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
An advanced university degree (Master’s or Higher) in Finance, Administration, and/or Supply & Logistics.
* A bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of relevant work experience will be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience of relevant work at both national and/or international level with specific experience in fleet management, budget, financial management and/or reporting, is required.
Demonstrated technical knowledge in financial and budget management, ability to analyze and synthesize complex information and data, and make clear, informed recommendation for decision, is required.
Experience in fleet financial management systems and reporting is highly desirable.
Demonstrate skills and experience in finding innovative solutions, will be considered an asset.
Experience with UN/UNICEF risk management systems and model will be considered an asset.
