Position Details:

The Department of Accounting in the Carson College of Business at Washington State University (WSU) is seeking qualified candidates for a permanent, full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position on the Pullman, WA campus starting in August 2024. The Opportunity:

As an Assistant Professor in Accounting, your duties include teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in accounting, including online courses. You will be expected to conduct accounting research resulting in publications in high-quality academic journals, take an active role working with doctoral students and make other service contributions to the department, college, university, community, and profession commensurate with rank.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Accounting or closely aligned field from a nationally or internationally recognized university is required by the appointment start date.

  • Demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of impactful scholarly research, as evidenced by copies of published articles, submitted manuscripts, and/or working papers targeted at publications in top-tier Accounting journals, along with evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and a commitment to teaching effectiveness at undergraduate and graduate levels.

  • Demonstrated record of facilitating an environment of inclusivity in classrooms through modes of instruction, student interactions, course materials, and flexibility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with case-based and other interactive pedagogies.

  • Individuals with teaching and research interests in all areas of accounting will be considered, with preference given to individuals with interests in behavioral research and teaching interests in financial accounting or managerial accounting.

Compensation & Support: The below salary amounts indicate the 9-month academic year base salary and any temporary summer research support (generally awarded for five years).

Base Salary : $205,000 – $220,000 per 9-month academic year

Summer Research Support : $25,000 per year for the first five (5) years

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

    The Carson College of Business (CCB) enrolls more than 4,400 undergraduate students and 800 online MBA and Executive MBA students combined.
