TerraCorps Community Engagement Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

tendersglobal.net

Whether you are passionate about conservation, land access, or sustainable agriculture, TerraCorps is here to help you serve local communities and build professional skills through transformative experiences.

TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps affiliated environmental nonprofit preparing and mobilizing emerging leaders to help communities gain access to and conserve land for people and nature. We do this by partnering with a network of 40+ nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of up to 60 AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they build capacity for the organization and learn to manage community programs in one of 5 coordinator positions:  Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC), Sustainable Agriculture Coordinators (SAC), Land Stewardship Coordinators (LSC), Youth Education Coordinators (YEC), Land Conservation Coordinator (LCC).

Community Engagement Coordinators build the long-term capacity of their service sites by:

  • Members may develop and lead culturally inclusive programming, events, and volunteer opportunities that provide broad social and environmental benefits to traditionally underrepresented beneficiaries.
  • Members may organize and facilitate multi-stakeholder networks to identify community needs, develop collaborative projects, and identify opportunities for resource sharing and funding.
  • Members may lead educational events and projects that leverage sustainable land uses to address public health, economic opportunity, educational deficiencies, and accessibility.
  • Members may revitalize urban parks, plant urban shade trees, create accessible camping opportunities, promote nature in the arts, encourage backyard gardening, etc.
  • Members may engage partners in food systems assessments, community resource inventory and mapping projects, and community education campaigns.
  • And many other community engagement projects and activities.

TerraCorps members serve in full-time (38 hours/week), 11-month positions from August 26th, 2024- July 25th, 2025. These AmeriCorps positions receive the following benefits:
