TerraCorps Land Stewardship Coordinator (AmeriCorps)

tendersglobal.net

Whether you are passionate about conservation, land access, or sustainable agriculture, TerraCorps is here to help you serve local communities and build professional skills through transformative experiences.

TerraCorps is an AmeriCorps affiliated environmental nonprofit preparing and mobilizing emerging leaders to help communities gain access to and conserve land for people and nature. We do this by partnering with a network of 40+ nonprofits in Massachusetts and Rhode Island focused on community needs related to local land conservation and sustainable agriculture. These partners act as service sites for a new cohort of up to 60 AmeriCorps service members annually. Service members are paired with a site supervisor who provides guidance and mentorship while they build capacity for the organization and learn to manage community programs in one of 5 coordinator positions:  Community Engagement Coordinators (CEC), Sustainable Agriculture Coordinators (SAC), Land Stewardship Coordinators (LSC), Youth Education Coordinators (YEC), Land Conservation Coordinator (LCC).

Land Stewardship Coordinators build the long-term capacity of their service sites by:

  • Members may organize volunteers to support hands-on stewardship of open lands.
  • Members may help service sites utilize Geographic Information Systems and GPS technology, and develop field survey techniques for natural resources inventory, ecological assessment, and monitoring of conservation land.
  • Members may organize volunteers to implement land stewardship projects such as invasive species removal, native plant restoration, erosion control, habitat improvement, and build and improve trails for public accessibility.
  • Members may prepare baseline documentation reports.
  • Members may conduct and train volunteers to conduct conservation restriction monitoring.
  • Members may help service sites develop and improve land stewardship systems in support of gaining and sustaining Land Trust Accreditation.
  • And many other land stewardship projects and activities.

TerraCorps members serve in full-time (38 hours/week), 11-month positions from August 26th, 2024- July 25th, 2025. These AmeriCorps positions receive the following benefits:
