About the Role
Reporting to the School Manager, this role supports the planning and delivery of an annual program of events, as determined and agreed with the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies Director. The role will be required to work closely with a range of internal staff to ensure the smooth operation of the Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies. This will involve general administration and executive support work, as well as advisory board management and some finance-related tasks.

The Asia Institute is the University of Melbourne’s key centre for studies in Asian languages, cultures, and societies. Asia Institute academic staff have an array of research interests and specialisations and strive to provide leadership in the study of the intellectual, legal, politico-economic, cultural, and religious traditions and transformations of Asia and the Islamic world. The Institute is committed to community engagement and offers a dynamic program of academic and community-focused events and cultural exchanges that aim to promote dialogue and debate.
The Centre for Contemporary Chinese Studies (CCCS) was launched in 2013. The Centre’s continuing mission is to facilitate high-quality research, teaching and engagement at the University of Melbourne that furthers our understanding of China’s ongoing transformation and the impacts within and beyond China. CCCS enhances Australia’s bilateral partnerships with top Chinese universities and acts as a hub for contemporary China studies in Melbourne. The CCCS acts as a hub for contemporary Chinese studies in Australia, regularly hosting visiting scholars and supervising graduate researchers. It leads an interdisciplinary research program covering major social science disciplines, including sociology, geography, development studies, and public policy.
