We are seeking passionate Therapeutic Care Workers. We have a number of exciting permanent part-time opportunities available at SYC’s Pasadena site to join our Specialised Residential Care Team.
The SRC program is SYC’s therapeutic residential care program for young people aged 0 to 18 who have experienced significant trauma, abuse and neglect. This program provides 24/7 consistent rotating roster shifts, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
Based on Attachment Theory, the program is designed to give young people a sense of security, consistency, and love – all the hallmarks of a family experience.
You will assist young people to effectively develop and foster appropriate life skills and social abilities to support their personal development and increase their connection with the community by helping young people to:
- Settle into a home like environment
- Create a secure and consistent primary relationship.
- Increase their independent living skills.
- Increase their capacity and links to the local community.
- Achieve their goals and aspirations.
About You
This role will engage with, inspire and support young people to create positive experiences and skills for independence. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- An ability to form a secure attachment with young people.
- Experience in working with young people with complex trauma.
- Experience in developing case plans and case noting and report writing.
For this role, you will need to:
- To hold a minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling) or currently actively working towards a recognised relevant qualification in accordance with DCP requirements.
- Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check, First Aid & CPR and National Police Check
- Be prepared to undergo a Psychological Assessment
- Be eligible to work in Australia.
- Be available to work afternoon/night shift from 4pm-8am including an 8-hour passive (overnight) sleep.
