About the Foundation:
The Australian Childhood Foundation is a renowned organisation committed to delivering clinical services, professional training, and secondary consultation based on up-to-date, evidence-based theoretical frameworks. Our approach integrates neurobiology of trauma, attachment and relational theories, and child development to provide comprehensive care and intervention through our Therapeutic Services Program.
About the Role:
Due to the expansion of our services, we are seeking experienced Child Trauma Counsellor/Therapeutic Specialists in Launceston to work across our statewide therapeutic out-of-home care service program and the recently secured contract for counselling services to children and young people affected by family violence.
As a Therapeutic Specialist, you will carry a varied caseload across our therapeutic programs. Your responsibilities will include initial intake, counselling, group work with children, young people, and their carers, clinical leadership, and training professionals and carers in trauma-informed therapeutic approaches.
About You:
We are looking for candidates with:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- Eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and direct service in the clinical assessment and treatment of children, young people, and families.
- Highly developed ability to provide secondary consultation and advice to clinicians and other professionals.
- Demonstrated knowledge of trauma, attachment, and neurobiology frameworks and theories.
- Substantial experience in the area of child abuse and/or working with traumatized children.
- A current Tasmanian driver’s license or equivalent.
- A current Working with Children check or equivalent.
