Position Summary:
Provides comprehensive diagnostic mental health assessments, interventions, education, referrals, and consultations for patients. Conducts evaluations and assessments; provides ongoing counseling, treatment, and intervention; conducts evidence-based individual, group, and family psychotherapy to individuals within the UTHealth – Psychosis Specialty Clinic and individuals seeking psychotherapy at UT Physicians with various presenting concerns.
A significant proportion of the caseload will be within the Psychosis Specialty Clinic, which provides services to individuals with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and mood disorders with psychosis. The Psychosis Specialty Clinic is under the umbrella of a larger research clinic. Depending on patient preferences and other applicable responsibilities, a hybrid model (mix of in-person and telemedicine services) may be utilized; however, clinicians are expected to provide a portion of services in person.
Position Key Accountabilities:
Certification/Skills:
Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Texas Board of Social Work. Knowledge of DSM-5 Criteria.
Minimum Education:
Master’s Degree in Social Work from a school approved by the Council on Social Work.
Minimum Experience:
Three years of social work experience required, with at least two years of experience providing evidenced-based, client-centered counseling (group or independent) also required. Clinical social work experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Experience working with individuals with psychosis and training and/or experience using Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), as well as strong generalist experience using evidence-based treatments, is highly desirable but not required. Regardless of experience, great candidates include individuals with an interest in working with this population.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
