Research the relationships between mammals, ticks, oak trees, spongy moth defoliation, and Lyme disease. Location is the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in New York’s Hudson River Valley.
Job Description: Duties include sampling abundance of ticks, creating soil core tick enclosures, monitoring tick survival within the enclosures, small mammal care, and vegetation analysis within eastern deciduous forest plots. Early morning and late afternoon hours and occasional weekend hours are required.
Qualifications: Meticulous attention to detail and experience in field ecology is required. Experience working with small mammals is a plus.
Employment scheduled to begin August 5, 2024 with an end date of approximately November 15, 2024.
Position reports to Dr. Richard S. Ostfeld and is full time, 35 hours/week. This is an hourly, temporary, non-exempt, non-benefited position. Hourly wage range is $20 to $22. Wage is commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment driving background check successfully. On-site housing is available.
