About the Role

The Timetabling Manager has a key role in managing the production of the teaching timetable for one of the faculties at Queen Mary. The post holder will lead a pool of timetabling officers to manage timetabling for all schools within the faculty and develop processes to continually improve student timetables.

This role requires the review and evaluation of the competing academic requirements of all schools, facilitating the equitable allocation of teaching space resources and ensuring that the timetable supports an excellent student experience.

The post holder will work collaboratively with schools to collect information on teaching from across the faculty, will provide negotiated solutions for scheduling issues while developing best practice for the construction of the timetable across Queen Mary.

About You

Educated to degree level in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Experience of timetabling in a university setting, either at a local or institution-wide setting is essential as well as proven experience of using Scientia timetabling software, with a demonstrably high level of technical expertise.

Knowledge of the structures, characteristics and requirements of programmes within the QM Faculty of Science & Engineering is highly desirable.

Candidates are expected to have proven experience of providing high-quality training and/or training materials, experience of office systems / processes and inter-departmental working and experience of the provision of credible advice to a wide range of people from a variety of backgrounds and levels of seniority.

About the Department

Registry Services provides professional support for teaching, learning and research at QMUL. The team works closely with the Vice-Principals for Education and Research, providing advice on the effectiveness of Queen Mary’s policies and procedures for the management of academic standards and the quality of provision. Within Registry Services, the Timetabling team is responsible for delivering the teaching timetable, ensuring that it maximises the use of teaching accommodation and supports an excellent student experience.

In order to facilitate this, Registry Services are seeking to appoint a Timetabling Manager with responsibility for the management of timetabling for the faculty of Science and Engineering.
