Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) was founded in 1982 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit environmental organization based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, dedicated to the conservation and stewardship of public lands in Southern Colorado. RMFI has an impact across Colorado and has grown to work with alpine and mountain terrains, watershed ecosystems, riparian zones, and the local foothills. RMFI is committed to protecting and enhancing the ecological health of our land and water resources by completing projects focused on watershed restoration, forest health, and creating sustainable outdoor recreation opportunities. The Trails Projects Manager oversees the work of field stewardship crews on multiple trail work projects while ensuring high-quality professional standards are upheld and provides customized solutions to individual land manager needs. They provide technical and administrative support for field projects while overseeing the work of field staff to ensure quality control and that project objectives are met. They spend extended time overnight in the field and backcountry upholding project expectations and teaching technical skills during the project season. The TPM must have extensive experience in trail construction and maintenance, restoration techniques, erosion mitigation, invasive species control, etc., and significant experience in personnel management. Trail techniques include layout and design for new trail and trail re-route projects, trail construction, and maintenance.
