About Aid Gate Organization “AGO”

Aid Gate Organization (AGO) is an independent national NGO in Iraq, committed to supporting Internally Displaced Persons, returnees, and vulnerable communities across all Iraqi cities and governorates. With operations in key regions such as Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Anbar, Nineveh, Diyala, and Basra, AGO focuses on rebuilding lives and promoting inclusivity for all, including minorities and persons with disabilities.

Background and Objectives

The objective of this consultancy is to hire a qualified trainer and mentor to design and deliver a comprehensive training program on Waste Cooperatives and SME business models in solid waste management and work as a mentor for the SMEs will be created during the project lifetime. The training will target 50 participants, including informal waste pickers and unemployed youth in Basra, Iraq. The program aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to establish and operate Waste Cooperatives or SMEs, focusing on cooperative governance, operational procedures, financial management, and regulatory compliance.

The trainer will also provide post-training mentorship and follow-up support to ensure the successful implementation of the cooperatives and their long-term sustainability.

Scope of Work 

The consultant will be responsible to finalize and ensure successful implementation of the below activities in addition to any other activities specified by the PM to ensure successful implementation of the whole project.

  • Developing a Customized Training Curriculum
  • Training Content and Delivery
    • Introduction to the SME Business Model
    • Team Collaboration and Interaction
    • Key Principles of Member Selection
    • Operational and Administrative Skills
    • Bank Account Setup and Contract Acquisition
  • Training Logistics and Participant Support
    • Daily Stipends and Meal Provisions
    • Conduct Pre- and Post-Training Assessments
  • Training Materials and Venue Approval
    • Submit Training Materials for Approval
    • Secure an Appropriate Training Venue
  • Post-Training Mentorship and Follow-up Support
    • Individual and Group Mentorship Sessions
    • Scheduled Follow-up Meetings and Check-ins
    • Development of a Mentorship Report

Deliverables

  • A customized 10-day training curriculum approved by AGO and UN-Habitat.
  • Delivery of the 10-day training program, including all sessions and team-building activities.
  • Pre- and post-training assessment reports.
  • Training materials (presentation slides, handouts, activity guides).
  • Post-training mentorship sessions and follow-up meetings.
  • A comprehensive mentorship report summarizing cooperative progress, challenges, and recommendations.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Master’s degree in economics, statistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in training delivery or lecturing.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs.
  • Excellent facilitation and mentorship skills.
  • Familiarity with the local context.

 Duration and Timeline

  • The assignment will be conducted over a period of 2 months, including:
  • Curriculum development.
  • Training delivery.
  • Post-training mentorship and follow-up.
