As the Training and Regional Community Engagement Officer you will work collaboratively with Victorian regional and rural aged care organisations to support them to be better equipped to deliver culturally inclusive aged care services.

Some of the ways you’ll make a difference:

  • Proactively partner with local, regional, and rural aged care organisations with a view to developing and strengthening The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing’s regional engagement approach.
  • Build strong relationships with aged care stakeholders across Victoria.
  • Support aged care providers across regional areas of Victoria, through in-person training, to incorporate culturally inclusive aged care practices.
  • Establish and coordinate a Cultural Diversity in Ageing Network for regional Victoria.
  • Event coordination and support for a major forum/conference for the aged care industry.
  • Adapt training content and deliver training on culturally appropriate care.
  • Contribute to a more inclusive aged care system.

To help you achieve this, ideally, you’ll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social policy, diversity and inclusion, community development, education, training or related fields
  • Expertise and knowledge of issues experienced by diverse, older Victorians and communities from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in the development of training content and delivery of training
  • Understanding of contemporary approaches to learning and capability building
  • Excellent project planning, development and coordination skills
  • Ability to plan and organise events, such as workshops or forums
  • Effective stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Experience in providing advice on access and equity issues impacting on seniors from culturally and Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
  • Flexibility to travel particularly to regional areas of Victoria
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships by building credibility, respect and rapport with stakeholders
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic working environment with the ability engage and influence to achieve personal and professional goals
  • Proven empathetic involvement with stakeholders including team members, clients, the community and a commitment to working with people

Desirable qualifications / experience

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Qualifications or Professional Development in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Experience working with older people, community organisations, and aged care services

Personal Attributes

  • Flexibility to travel particularly to regional areas of Victoria
