Climate Emergency UK is looking for a Training Coordinator to lead on the delivery of
our Local Climate Academy (LCA) as well as other training programmes. This role is crucial in
empowering residents, council officers, and councillors to use the Council Climate Action
Scorecards and drive climate action at the local level.
We welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and encourage applications
from people currently underrepresented in the environment movement, including women, people of
colour, those from a working class background, rural communities, people with disabilities or
from the LGBTQI community.
About the role
Climate Emergency UK (CE UK) designed and launched the Local Climate Academy (LCA) in Autumn
2023 to coincide with the launch of the Council
Climate Action Scorecards.
The Local Climate Academy is a 6-week online course that equips council officers,
councillors and residents (different courses) with the knowledge, tools and skills to support
their council to tackle the climate and ecological crisis. We also deliver stand alone
peer-learning sessions with councils and campaign training sessions with residents on what the
Action Scorecards show and how to use the information with them for climate action.
We’re looking for someone who understands the complexity of local government and is
passionate about the ability of residents and people power to bring about systemic change.
Councils may not be the sexiest topic, but with up to a third of emission reductions within the
influence of local authorities, there is a real chance to make a significant difference in
reducing carbon emissions and improving our communities.
The role
Location: Remote (UK-based) with occasional travel to team work days
Salary: £33,526 pro-rata (approx. £16,763 per annum, based on the CE UK standard work week of
32 hours)
Hours: 16 hours a week
Start date: week commencing 28th October 2024 or soon after
Contract: 1 year fixed term, with likelihood of extension
Benefits: Holiday allowance 23 days plus bank holidays (pro rata), 3% pension
contributions
The job is remote working, with the successful candidate living in the UK. The
successful candidate will be required to travel to a central UK city every 2-3 months for team
work days (likely London, Brighton or Lancaster). Travel and accommodation expenses
covered.

About Us
Climate Emergency UK is a small organisation that aims to inspire and organise action
to respond to the climate and ecological emergency at the local level, working with Councils
and residents. Across the UK, local authorities of all political persuasions have declared
climate & ecological emergencies, have written action plans to deliver on their ambitions
and some are taking the actual action necessary. There are also hundreds of community groups,
taking action into their own hands by campaigning for the council to take real climate action.
And this is where CE UK comes in. We exist to support those in the council climate movement by
providing accessible information about best practice on council climate action and providing a
network where local authorities, activists, NGOs, business and local communities can work
together.
The successful candidate would be joining a small, yet mighty, staff team of four
(including the successful candidate).
We make decisions by all-team consensus which this staff member would be part of. This
role will be managed by the Outreach Director.
Closing date: Thursday
26th September 2024.
Interviews will likely be held on the 9th and 10th October 2024. We would like the
successful candidate to start the week commencing 28th October or November 2024 (a later start
date is also possible if we have the right candidate).
