Job Description

Following a first assessment conducted in January 2017 in Italy and another one in July 2017, several critical protection gaps were identified within the assistance provided to refugees and migrants in Italy: mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), assistance to unaccompanied children, information provision and legal support.
IRC established a small presence in Italy to respond to the identified gaps.
Programs in Italy include Refugee.Info, a web-based information platform, child protection programming targeting unaccompanied children and victims of trafficking, mentoring programs for the socio-economic inclusion of refugee youth, Women Protection and Empowerment (WPE), and education (social-emotional learning and healing classrooms).
Between April and December 2024 IRC Italia will work in a joint effort with UNHCR teams to provide support to persons of concern in key disembarkation areas as well as in reception facilities and informal settlements in Sicily (including the island of Lampedusa) and Calabria.
Context of the Assignment
The DIRECT project(Develop coordination with migrants to Enhance inclusion of Trafficked persons) aims to identify trafficking victims early and prevent trafficking by collaborating with migrant-led organizations. It also promotes the integration of third-country national victims of trafficking in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, and Greece.
In Italy, IRC will run group parenting sessions in Sicily and Lombardy for third-country national mothers at risk of trafficking. The sessions aim to address challenges faced by families in a new country and discuss parenting.
Job overview:
We are currently looking for one facilitator who will deliver training on trafficking in persons to first responders working in reception centers or organizations supporting refugee and migrant populations, in Sicily and, potentially, in Lombardy and Lazio. The training will be based on an existing curriculum developed by the IRC.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Conduct six 8-hour long trainings on trafficking in persons to first responders working in reception centers or other organizations supporting refugees and migrants. Training will be delivered in person in Sicily (mostly) and Lombardy.

• Ensure monitoring and evaluation of training activities based on relevant M&E tools provided by the IRC.
• At the end of each training, report on activities, challenges, and results to the Program Manager.
• Produce a written final report.
• Delivery of 6 in-person trainings of 8 hours each on trafficking in persons to reception centers’ staff or other first responders working in organizations supporting refugees and migrants.
• Final report of the activities and results.
• Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to establish team engagement, inclusion, and cohesion in IRC Italy.
• Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies
