Organization Mission

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that supports human development globally by promoting volunteerism and by mobilizing volunteers. It is administered by UNDP and operates amidst growing recognition that volunteerism makes important contributions, economically and socially, to more cohesive societies by building trust and reciprocity among citizens.

The UNV Regional Offices (RO) provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in their respective geographical assignments and are mainly accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development, and humanitarian needs. The Regional Offices also lead in scoping and delivering UNV’s advisory service offer on volunteer infrastructure. The Regional Office for Arab States (ROAS) is based in Amman, Jordan.

Context

UN Volunteers is facilitating the implementation of IVY 2026 in the Arab States, providing guidance to Member States and other stakeholders in the region. To support this work, materials are needed in Arabic, English, and French. We are looking for Online Volunteers who are interested in contributing by translating documents, PowerPoint presentations, and other key materials.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Regional Coordinator for the International Volunteer Year for Sustainable Development (IVY) 2026 in the English ↔ French translation of the following documents:

– Roadmap for country-level implementation – 2 pages
– IVY 2026 – Introductory Slide decks various stakeholders- 38 slides
– Newsletter – 5 pages

Required Skills and Experience

1) Bachelor”s degree in Translation, Interpreting, French/English Language
2) Translation experience
3) Internet connectivity
4) Familiarity with the UN system will be considered an advantage
